Classic Cusco

Cusco, heart of the Inca Empire, we explore narrow lovely cobblestone streets, the impressive Sacsayhuaman fortress, the mysterious carved rock shrine of Kenko and the delightful Inca Baths at Tambomachay. Later on ,at the Sacred Valley of the Incas by the Urubamba river we visit the Native Market at Pisac and the town and ceremonial site of Ollantaytambo, the only Inca village that has been continuously inhabited until our times.
The highlight of our trip is the visit to Machupicchu the legendary "Lost City of the Inca", so well hidden by the overgrowth that it was never found by the "Conquistadores", and it was rediscovered by profesor Hiran Bigham in 1911. This city is one of the world most beautiful and important archaelogical finds.

ITINERARY

Day 1: CUZCO CITY /TOUR INCA RUINS

Fly to Cuzco (11,150 fett). Transfer to the hotel and welcome with a hot coca tea. In the afternoon visit the plazas, narrow cobble streets, colonial monumets of Cuzco City, and the magnificient Inca Ruins of the massive stone construction of Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca-Pucara , and Tambomachay. Overnight at the hotel. (B)

Day 2: SACRED VALLEY / INDIAN MARKET

We enjoy a day of breathtaking scenery of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we visitthe dramatic ridge-top ruins at Pisac and the bustling market. After lunch we walk through the ancient Inca street of Ollantaytambo and admire it’s temple. Drive back to Cuzco across Chincheros plains with spectacular views of the mountain range. (BL)

Day 3: MACHU PICCHU

Travelling by train we descend the spectacular gorge of Urubamba river to Machu Picchu, South America’s most famous archeological site. We have time to explore and absorve the beauty of this place. Return to Cuzco by train. Overnight in hotel. (BL)

Day 4: LIMA / HOME

Transfer to the airport in Cuzco, for a flight to Lima and home.
